In school he keeps to himself and is often alone.
He doesn’t have many friends or enemies.
He spends a lot of his time at home.
But there is never enough bread, only hunger.

So he goes out looking for a job but doesn’t find anything.
Instead he finds a street where something’s happening.
It’s full of people.
He forgets his hunger and he forgets his needs…Bourbon Street.

He sees a guy playing the blues,
He forgets the world around him.
This guy sings and plays and even makes a lot of money!
“Hey” he thinks “That’s the way to do it”.

So he borrows a guitar and tries to learn by watching the hands of this famus musician.
He practices hard into the night,
Even when the other people in the house want to sleep.
His only goal is Bourbon Street.

He soon understands that with just three chords he’s in the game.
He uses these chords in a very clever way.
Now he’s the king of the blues. Fantastic!

He has success, a lot of gigs, lotta’ chics, pot, whisky & beer.
And in the end, a fix.
So close to reaching the top, Bourbon Street.

Today I saw him on the street. He did his job.
Sitting on his Peavey Amp with his Stratocaster playing the blues.
Each line on his face told a story.

He plays for the notes. Bank notes. Sometimes he even gets two.
Some people stay and some people pass him by or go to the other side of the street.
He sings his blues…it’s not far….to Bourbon Street.
